The most relevant experiences for me were those associated with history for language learning, like visiting the Mercado, the lessons at Plaza Londres, and of course the cultural outings like the Museum and the dancing. Getting up and having my lessons in the morning helped to prepare me for the excursions in the afternoons and the homework helped to solidify what I was learning and what I came to Vive Spanish Adventure. I was surprised that everybody was so patient and kind with me and everyone’s willingness to help. I can´t wait to go back (already planning a trip for the end of the year). All in all, I gained so much confidence, I´m not afraid of speaking Spanish anymore”.

“Norma is the best Spanish teacher i’ve had, and I’ve had a few. It wasn’t my choice to not be taught Spanish at birth, especially as a Yaqui-Chicane, Mexican & Panamanian-American. Still, I’ve always felt separate and ashamed for not speaking the language of my family and ancestors. The loss of language, along with the loss of connection that went with it, has been a traumatic part of my story. That, and also having learning differences/disabilities has made my personal Spanish learning journey quite difficult. But Norma was so patient with me from the start. She was warm, personable, and professional. We went through many engaging lessons together and she never once shamed me for asking too many questions. I could be honest with her about my nervousness and she would always respond with lightheartedness and relatability.
